I, of course, am going to need a transformer to change that 110-120 volt output from a wall outlet to something manageable. Well my problem is that I'm not sure that a hobby shop would have a transformer, although it might. But if it doesn't what do I do? Also, I need wire but I think that the hobby shop will have that. But my problems are not over. How do I attatch wire to track? Tuud

The best way I've seen yet(Correct me if I'm wrong here fella's)is to solder the wire's to the bottom of a pair of rail conecter's(those little U shaped sleeve's that connect one rail to the next).Drill a 1/8th to 5/32nd hole thru the roadbed (between the rail's)and wood sub frame.Run the wire's underneath the layout to the transformer.

Oh and for the transformer I like the MRC Teck II 2500. Do a search(in the search box type in Teck II) on E-bay to see whats avalable.I just picked up an MRC Tech II 3000 GS system for just over $20.

Hi, I'm sorry to say that I am working in O or Large scale in answer to your question James. Since the hobby shop I found is probably closed on Sundays and because of the deeep snow i probably won't be able to get to the hobby shop until Thursday or some time near that so i won't be able to get my transformer for a while.
(by the way, if you have any ideas for a different scale, tell me)

Ok, In O scale, you will most likely need a a special AC transformer. (Assuming its Lionel type O scale, It its two rail O scale follow the advice of HO)
G-scale is simple, As it in the transformer department is just like HO, with the exception of needing a power pack with more umph becasue it runs on 24V rather than 12V
