On my last trip on the Chief, when leaveing williams for the trip home, we had to wait for almost an hour for a passenger's taxi to catch the Train because at the last stop the Train left someone and her *** on the platform, so we waited, and while we waited I asked the Conductor about the *** , I asked if it was a seeing eye *** , he said: "were not allowed to ask"..,
At Union Station L.A., I seen the woman with her *** , so I asked if it was a special needs *** , and she said he was just a pet!
yet, Amtrak doesnt allow pets, but since there not allowed to ask if someone's pet is speacial needs or just your pet, then does this mean I can take my *** when I travel?

Jonathon: Yes, found out on one other post that the profanity filter does this to d o g. Can the moderator explain or can this be chaninge. I do not why this word would be on the list. Actually I used it in reference to Greyhound, as that was an old common thing when I was a teenager to call it if you were going to take a trip by bus.
Moderator: What is the matter with d o g ?

Because of the way the law currently works all a passenger has to do is say that it is a service animal and the Amtrak crews are limited as to what they can do as to the legitimacy of the claim.

I often envisioned my beloved Newfoundland (1992-Sep 12, 2003) on a trip. I could imagine him "helping himself" to the entire couch in a Deluxe for his afternoon "Siesta", and maybe, such as if he wanted to "snuggle", just might have left some room for me, Otherwise, Iguess I would be relegated to the "auxilliary" chair.
I could envision him setting up shop in the Sightsser giving "pony rides" to any kid under 40lbs (if too heavy, he would gently dump and throw in a few "kisses" for good measure). Even a walk through the Coaches, he would have had all eyes upon him.
He would know the Diner was off limits, but would "expect" a little "toll" to be paid (beyond his normal daily 1lb of Purina One)in order for me to set foot in the room again.
As the Master Charge TV ads say, "priceless". But as both he and I know, there are simply too many public health and liability issues to consider that would allow such a fantasy to take place.

The doggy *** feature of the profanity filter has been a part of this board for a long time. Its one of the nifty quirks that keep me coming back to Railforum year after year.
