Does anyone know if the Silver Service trains through Deland will be affected by the tornadoes that hit E. Central FL this morning? Lots of damage in the Deland area according to local TV coverage.

Checking Amtrak's website, it looks like #91, the southbound Silver Star which would have been due into DeLand around 7am was annulled somewhere north of DeLand on the morning of February 2nd. No details as to where it was suspended though.
Train #97, the southbound Silver Meteor, due into Orlando at 11:44am arrived two hours late on February 2.
Train #92, the first northbound Amtrak train originating in Florida on February 2, arrived in DeLand at 5:53pm.....just 15 minutes late.
So aside from the annulled #91, it looks like Amtrak service in and out of Florida was normal....perhaps even a little better than normal....yesterday.

It appears that this whackin' from Mother Nature included The Villages. I have yet to hear from folk I know there.

Yes, The Villages (around 50 miles SE of me) got pounded. Damage is still being assessed from this "El Nino" storm. We got more than 10" of rain out of it, but fortunately no real damage for much of Marion County.

I've now heard from those with a computer and they are OK.
Mike, if you are 50 miles from The Villages, then you must actually reside somewhere else than Ocala.

I am barely served by the Ocala post office, and located just off US27 halfway between Ocala and Williston, 15 miles NW of "downtown" Ocala in horse country. I overestimated the mileage substantially, and GBN corrected me from Chicagoland. Distance is actually around 36 miles (as you can tell, I don't get down that way too much!)
