TALKrr - I am not sure where to find your trip report. Can you specify a URL for me? Thanks.

Thanks for the link Gil and thanks for the report, TALKrr. Very succinct and informative. Connie, I never go to the menu, just open up directly into Amtrak so I never saw all those choices. I will have to browse around the other forums, could be interesting.
Less than four weeks until our cross Canada train trip. Any words of wisdom from those in the know?

Vicki - Your upcoming trip across Canada (on the Canadian, I assume?) will be a very memorable experience -- expect to have BETTER service, BETTER food, and BETTER accomodations than on AMTRAK, eh? [Smile]

P.S. Don't forget to give us a trip report when you return!!!!

The Canadian..one of the truly great rail trips..better than anything Amtrak has to offer. I took the train from Toronto to Vancouver in March of last year in an upper berth, the most inexpensive sleeping accomodation.

Yes the food is incredible..a different menu at each meal for the three day trip..fine china, great chefs on board, etc. You ll get champagne leaving Toronto, Winnepeg and Jasper. There is always coffee, juice, pastries and fruit in the park car and you 'll get two dome cars(three in the summer)

Its an incredible journey and one I m glad I did. You ll have a wonderful time I m sure
