I'm not certain if it has been noted here that for the duration of the G-20 Conference in Pittsburgh Sep 24 to 26 inclusive, that Amtrak service has been suspended to Pittsburgh for these three days.

As likely all know, these G-20 conferences have a way of attracting every ku-ku with the means to travel wherever so they can have a public forum to "rant".

In order to provide security to World Leaders, including President Obama, downtown Pittsburgh has become a "Green Zone" of sorts. The Amtrak (Penn) Station is in the middle of this secure area, and as such it is not possible to travel to or from Pittsburgh "for the duration". It is possible to transfer between the Capitol Limited and Pennsylvanian. Station facilities such as Rest Rooms are apparently open.

However the Station Code PGH has been replaced with Location Code PTT which stands for Pennsylvania Transfer.

One more day to go.

No change in the routing has been made. 29-30-42-43 continue to stop at the existing station. As noted passengers can transfer between Capitol Ltd and Pennsylvanian and have station services available during their layover, but no pasenger can arrive or depart from Pittsburgh.

Oh well time to go watch some ku-ku interfere with NBC Nightly News.

As of a few moments ago, the website shows that both WB trains #29 Capitol Limited and #43 Pennsylvanian will make normal station stops at Pittsburgh.

It's over! Tune in next Friday to find out if Chicago is in for the same kind of dusruptions; only in this case seven years of it.

I can assure you the G-20 helped the Capitol, No. 5/25 stay on time. Arrived Chicago 20 min. early with the Pittsburgh stop only to change engineer and transfer passengers from the Pennsylvanian. No originating/terminating passengers for Pittsburgh permitted.

Also enjoyed seeing a very impressive German Shepherd and two homeland security guys in the baggage cars in DC. They gave me ok for picture taking, but then I probably don't fit the terrorist profile.
