The Associated Press news item Ms. Dee linked above (courtesy Yahoo News) was noted by CBS Radio News during the 5AM CT newscast. Apparently the family traveling Syracuse-Omaha noted that the train is costing only "one quarter" of what it would have cost to fly (safe assumption thay are traveling Coach).
Air travel may well have peaked and will now 'ebb and flow' with business cycles. The number of otherwise airworthy yet grounded aircraft 'basking in the desert sun" is indicative of that.
Who knows, rail travel may become the one and only passenger "growth industry'.

Yes, they are obviously going by coach. If the 5 of them went in a couple sleepers, it would probably cost 2 to 3 times MORE than it would have if they flew.
Oh well............. (I'D go by train if I had the time!....)
