#1 (and only) daughter is supposed to be heading home from Minneapolis tomorrow May 1 to Chicago to connect with the Capitol Limited. Anyone know if 8(29) is delayed by flooding? Hope I got the notation right Mr. Norman!

My new "default" station (EKH) has no baggage service or QuikTrak machine, but the parking is free! And the NY Central RR Museum is just across the tracks (but not open at Amtrak train times. . ..)

There could be "issues"; Ms. McFarland.

Best advice is to check Train Status, which at this time shows #8(29) as "Service Disruption".

1-800-USA-RAIL may have more information; good luck.

At 5:31 a.m. CDT today, Amtrak Status Maps was showing service disruptions for "58, 8, 8, 7, 59, 7, 21 and 23." A downstate Illinois newspaper said the CONO wasn't making it between Carbondale and Memphis. Glug glug.

Weather guy last night talked about NDakota blizzard. Anyway, things don't look good for planned meet-up during Milwaukee stop. I'm going to wait to hear from her, but I suspect they may opt for a rental car. Everyone needs to get back to work on Monday morning. Professional meeting for Archivists had her in Minneapolis this week. This group has a knack for picking bad weather weekends for meetings. A few years ago they were in New Orleans & got out 3 days before Katrina hit.

She 900 USA-RAIL about midnight on Saturday & the agent she spoke to told her not to worry because there was a train added just for Minneapolis-Chicago travelers. She arrived at the station the next morning, where the ticket agent told her he never heard of such a thing, I know they add a coach to #8 in Minneapolis, but a whole other train? Anyway she took a cab to Greyhound and took the bus to Chicago, where she went to the South Shore Railroad to South Ben, Indiana. A long slow ride, but finally in South Bend around 10 PM EDT. She decided to opt for the bus because no one could/would give her any information about what would happen had she waited for the train & missed her connection in Chicago (which she obviously would have).

Still a big problem in not getting accurate, timely information to travelers.
