It seems like there are quite a few commercials, these days, for freight trains and freight railroads. Most are interesting and well presented. Union Pacific, BNSF, and CSX seem to be running a lot of them. I have to think the commercials may generate greater interest in not only freight trains, but also in Amtrak and passenger trains as well.

I saw a really clever one, last night, by Norfolk Southern:

CSX advertises on CBS Radio News during the 5A CT hour.

However, I'm inclined to hold that these ads convey to a public within the markets passenger trains operate, that such are simply inconsequential to the industry and its commercial role.

Roger that on the Norfolk Southern ad- it's great.

Sort of evokes the great Pixar series TOY STORY;
a mysterious kids room cloaked in a spectral bluish color, where a model NS freight train makes the rounds of the room, activating all the other toys to life. It's a fun ad to watch, compared to the usual soapy dreck of commercial television--

That NS one is good. I guess they're aiming for the shippers relaxing at home, reminding them that rail may well be an option for their business.
