Interesting and well written article, I think:

http://qz.com/409824/yes-amtrak-was-sabotaged-by-congress/

One quote:

"The reason money-losing long-distance trains continue to operate is that the economic arguments for eliminating them fails the political test. Once the good folks of a given state or city lose their once-daily, long-distance train, the congressional lawmakers representing those souls are less likely to allocate tax dollars to the NEC, which still needs those subsidies for capital expenditures."

Richard, while I doubt if anything revealed in the article has broken ground with the members here, the article seems tailored to the demographic the site, Quartz, intends to reach.

The article is well written, unbiased, and to one who follows Amtrak affairs, i.e. me, factual, and indicative of the work that this group of young journalists can bring to the table.

I found the "Welcome to Quartz" and "Meet the staff" to be interesting.

Thanks Richard, that was a good article. I signed up for their online news and will give it a try. Sounds like they do their research. However on some of the social issues, I'd like to see some opposing views discussed.
