I must say wonder what's going on "up there". Just a little "nippy" at 65dg here.

Both Auto Trains have been canceled. Hope back to normal by Monday as "Voyage 22" is scheduled for Monday.

From the Bar At Marriott after a great Cleveland Orchestra concert---

Let's hope Voyage 22 will be a go. My friends in Fredericksburg with their 4WD Jeep, say get here and we will go to Dinner on Tuesday evening. I know if AT is CXd Monday, they will give money back in full, but now that all major chains want 24 hour notice, that would be a bummer should I just drive home.

Must wonder Mr. Palmland, what does Tallulah think of all the snow?

Well, GBN, wish I knew. I suspect she's not happy as she's in a kennel. We're putting up with blustery mid 60's weather on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. No trains here. Even if not ideal weather, good time to not be in the northeast or, for that matter, in the Carolinas.

AT's are CX for tonight and Sunday. Monday, who knows.

If they scrub, think I'll hang down here a few days, albeit not at this pricey Marriott (thinking the Holiday Inn Express in Boca).

Gil, I was watching the horse races from Gulfstream Park (Hallandale, not far from you), and the girl commentator was complaining that it was getting quite chilly towards the end of the day (a couple of hours ago). The commentators at the SoCal anchor booth were teasing her about the arctic conditions in the Sunshine State!

Supposed to get a hard freeze here tonight (27F?), then cold all day tomorrow before a warming trend. Good luck with the rest of your trip, and nice meeting you for brunch at the Cracker Barrel.

Ocala Mike, great to see you too, still awaiting word from Amtrak if 52 (25) is going to run. If not, it's a "back to the drawing board" for my return home.

Mr. Palmland, Eleuthera is one of the more Northern Bahamian islands as I recall. There is quite a story in a book titled Skygods and covering the decline and fall of Pan American Airways. That outfit sure appeared in the book to be some self serving bureaucracy. Related to that was how they had a Daily nonstop JFK-Eleuthera, and of interest is how their founder-CEO, Juan Trippe, had a winter home there. The flight was there essentially for he and party. Some days the only "lading" it had was the Chairman's NYTimes and WSJournal.

I've never known it to be this cold in Miami - and this is hardly my first rodeo "down below" (my Father's term for Florida )

Still no word whether 52 (25) will operate tomorrow. If not, back to the drawing board for Plan B. In that case Voyage 22 will have to be another time.

GBN, it is a small world. Your Juan Trippe story rang a bell with our host. As a young family they were on that Pan Am flight and were seated behind Trippe. He made sure their children got to keep the coloring book the 'stew' had given their kids. They, however, were not headed to his resort, Cotton Bay. Hope AT heads north for you tomorrow.

It won't.

They reaccommodated on 52(26) Bedroom A and I'm just going to stay over here another night. I thought of moving out to Holiday Inn Express in Boca (the one Andy Smith thinks is so terrible) @$195 but when I found they could take me here @ $295, I figured "it's only money".

But I'm heartbroken I'll miss my wonderful friend in Fredericksburg, who I've known since she was six years old, but she understands.
