Have you thought about having a topic or for sale link on this site, especially for parcels along railroads? I have lived all my life along the PRR where there is the crossing and used to be a station. Much history here, part of my property was used for stacking the railroad ties. I now find it necessary to sell my house and am looking for someone who appreciates the life along the rails. I know there are some B & B's that appeal to train enthusiasts and therefore, maybe someone out there would be interested in my location for that venue. Includes a store front with the old post office also. If you ever set up a topic for this kind of offering, I'd like to enter my information.

Here is what could be a good BNSF Chicago Sub "observatory". It is at MP 18.6 and presently listed:

251 Burlington

Ask is $395

(author has no affiliation or connection whatsoever with either the owner or listing broker)

Looked at the neighborhood on Google Maps.

What a superb location for a railway-oriented B&B or similar that would be. Several nearby commercial buildings indicate that business use should not likely be a problem.

How conveniently Mr. Norman lives near a METRA stop. All the better to bring guests in from Union Station.

Perhaps zoning would permit some sort of platform to be built.

Can't count the number of times I have looked out at that property from the likes of the CZ, Nebraska Zephyr, and North Coast Limited.

All things being equal (home condition, etc.), the price seems quite a bargain compared to similar executive bedroom communities (it's surrounded by them) on the coasts.

The structure was "once upon a time" a pumping station for the water works. However, when the Village, along with most of Du Page County started to purchase Lake Michigan water, the facility was surplus and the Village sold it to a locksmith.

However, it appears the building is no longer listed.

My house is .06mi from the METRA Station.
