Am thinking that Amazon.com links might bring in more money for Trainweb, Inc. expenses.

On Amazon, there's something for everyone.

Received this reply from Steve Grande about your suggestion.

"The Amazon suggestion is also good. Near the top of the page where it talks about supporting the APRHF, I've added to it so that it also says "Support APRHF by shopping at Amazon Smile" where the words "Amazon Smile" are a link explaining that they can make APRHF the target of their donations at Amazon. Amazon gives 0.5% of each purchase to the non-profit APRHF.

TrainWeb itself doesn't get anything from Amazon purchases. We used to promote all sorts of railroad books and videos using links to Amazon.com from TrainWeb. But that brought in very little funds. Plus, Amazon would change the format of their links from time to time and require us to go through all our web pages and update all our links which was a lot of work. Eventually it became not worth the effort. But the Amazon Smile program is good for APRHF. All it requires is each person just one time to designate APRHF as the target of their Amazon donations, and APRHF then gets a donation for every purchase they ever make from then on.

Thanks for the suggestions! Just sorry it took so long to implement. I try to make sure that I eventually read and implement as much as I can of suggestions."

Thank you for considering my proposal.

I feel your pain regarding Amazon switching ads. At least unlike some in my case Amazon never changed the size of its banners, which distorted my page templates.

Was thinking in terms of the same generic Amazon banner across tops of pages that does not promote specific products. Our audience seems too small for that.

There are two advantages to this. 1) No need to change ad offerings and 2) no worries about ads inappropriate for Railforum reader demographics.

Key to this would be having the same banner across the top of pages that would have room for a search function without clicking through to another page. Make it easy!

Thank you and Steve Grande for all the work that you do.
