[/qb][/QUOTE]Good post, dmw-- sounds like you are overdue for an Amtrak trip, though! :) I don't like 12+ hour metal tube rides either; it's just that for me, they're easier on the trains than the airplanes. For some reason, I never get the claustrophobic feel of the planes, on the train. However, those roomettes (the old "economy bedroom") are pretty smallish, esp. if you're a large/tall person, or have 2 in the room... however the privacy, and not being around wailing kids is a nice inducement to have one; also you just sign for your food in the diner.
