The first leg of my next trip involves the Texas Eagle from Chicago which connects to (turns into?) the Sunset Limited in San Antonio and continues to LA. Does the same sleeper attendant take the whole trip or do I get a new one? (If the service is good & the attendant is getting off in San Antonio, I'd like to give him/her a tip.)

Note to GBN - will I be passing your place & if so, which side of the train should I look out to see your wave?

And to those of you who are wondering: no bagpipers coming along on this trip. . .

Ms. McFarland, only the Chief and Zephyr pass here; however where else outside of Yard Limits do two Superliner equipped pass Daily in each direction?

If everybody is on time, four Superliner trains will pass 18.34 in the period of an hour and a half.

In San Antonio, you will receive a new attendant who will continue with you to LA. What is done in San Antonio is the end Coach and the full Sleeper from the Eagle are cut out of the consist and placed together on an adjoining track. When the Sunset Limited arrives it backs into the 2 cars, and then head west to LA. The entire process doesn't take more than an hour, and normally around midnight.

In answer to Mr. Norman's query, Sacramento to Emeryville, about 80 miles of common trackage. Coast Starlight and California Zephyr, one each in the morning and one each in the evening.
