To me it's "sinister" (well, not your $3 Starbucks) and in my daily life the only thing I use it for is my monthly haircut ($20 - old school) and the laundromat every 45 days ($10 - coin-op). On the trip, I took $50.75 with me and returned with $2.75. I'll even share where it went: $20 Hotel housekeeper $6 METRA $3 CTA $4 MIA Metro $10 Tip for a comp Breakfast at hotel $2 gift to a homless veteran $3 New York Times Why Amtrak hasn't gone cash free on board escapes me.
