Do you remember the buffet cafeteria-style dining cars which were a two car set on the silver service trains to Florida from New York. They offered a buffet meal which you chose as in a cafeteria line and then sat and ate in the other car of the two car set. They lasted for 2 or 3 years

Yes I do remember those cars all too well; just as well they are history.

In addition to the Silver Meteor and Star, they were also assigned to the Auto Train, their range of service was during the "eighties".

Fortunately, they were gone from the Auto Train (at least for Sleeper passengers) for a 1992 trip.

I don't miss 'em one Iota; further I fail to see how they resulted in any savings whatever in the delivery of food service.

From onw who was "been there done that", good riddance

Yes, I remember the buffet cars, as I have already indicated on a different thread in this forum!
