Does anyone know what happened to the planned Crescent star route to texas?

I know it was a few years ago but I am slow,

Why was the Fond du Lac Hiawatha discontinued.

Both the Crescent Star and the Fond du Lac train you noted were part of the Y2K Network Growth Strategy (NGS) initiative. I'm certain that entering "amtrak network growth strategy" in the search engine of your choice will return links to interesting material.

The Crescent Star was a proposal to have through cars cut from (added to) #19 SB (#20 NB) Crescent at Meridian, following a route roundly that of I-20 over to Fort Worth. You could say it was to be a "reincarnation of sorts" of the PRR-MP "Penn Texas".

The only "survivor" from the NGS is Daily Texas Eagle service #21-22. The only "additions" that ever came to pass were extension of 850-1 Kentucky Cardinal Jeffersonville-Louisville, the surviving Daily Texas Eagle, and a fourth weekly San Antonio-LA frequency.

Here is one such link: http://www.ipt.com/aboard/atk0019.htm

Thanks a lot, It's a shame that some of those never came off.

I would really like to see daily Cardinal service and trains on the 3-C route in Ohio.

Cincinatti's terminal is to beautiful to only see 1 train a day in the middle of the Night!
