I've just been reviewing videos of last years trips. One scene shows the window washers in Denver giving the CZ a once over. AS we pulled out of Denveer the windows were clear and clean. Unfortunately a couple of hours AND THE MOFFAT TUNNEL later they were smudge city for the rest of the trip. The CZ traverses some of the most beautiful parts of the Rockies it's a shame it has to be seen through dirty windows. Rodger

Its a shame many of the stops in the rural areas have raised platforms you could have brought along some Windex and clean whipes to keep the view clear and clean.

Unfortunately, you are not too far off the mark, Mr. Tanner.
While those of us here that knew pre-Amtrak travel enjoyed the superlative service offered through the '60's, the roads had pretty well "threw in the towel' by 1970. At that time, service, save the Santa Fe and Seaboard Coast Line, started to deterioriate everywhere.
There was a brave rail tour operator I believe from Augusta, GA that did his best to accomodate his patrons. TRAINS showed a photo of him atop a ladder personally cleaning the windows on his party's Sleeper at a station stop.

I was just on the WB Zephyr in Denver Thursday morning. No one washed any windows. I walked around thinking about Albuquerque and the crew washing windows on the Chief there.
