I'm wondering what the Sunset consist will look like when it resumes service to NOL? I'm booked on the "inagural" run on the 4th from NOL to LAX in the transition sleeper, as it doesn't look like (on Amtrak's web page anyway) that they will be running a regular sleeper out of NOL.

What about the sightseer lounge? Is that coming back? Are they still operating without a baggage car?

Thanks!

If no one else gets this information on the forum before your trip, I hope that you will share it with us when you return.

Thanks,

Ah, I remember the glory days (not too long ago really) when the Sunset chugged out of NOL with 2 P42's, baggage, transition dorm, 2 sleepers, diner, lounge, and 2 or 3 coaches depending on the season.

When you stop in Beaumont, don't rag on our none existing station. Plans for a new downtown riverfront train station is coming.

btw, our station was none existing before Rita.
