The suitcases are packed (the travel list checked twice). Tomorrow at a little after 2 p.m. I leave SPG on the Lake Shore Limited for the beginning of a 19 day trip.

Included in the Itinery is:

Lake Shore Limited - Springfield, MA to Los Angeles, CA. (With a stop along the way in AZ for a visit with my brother and his wife.)

The Coast Starlight - Los Angeles,CA to Portland, OR (where I will spend a couple of days doing the tourist routine.)

Cascades - Portland, OR to Seattle, WA (more tourist things for several days.)

Empire Builder - Seattle, WA to Chicago, IL

Lake Shore Limited - Chicago, IL to Springfield, MA.

This trip has been planned since early last November and I have spent lots of fun time on line checking out things to see in Portland and Seattle. So much to see !!!! I can not wait to get started !!

Dee

p.s. Yes Mr Norman, I am going sleeper all the way when overnite except for the first nite on LSL when I will be to excited to sleep.

Sounds like a GREAT trip. I am sure you are excited !!

My son and I leave from Pittsburgh on May 5th for a trip out to Portland , also---although we will not be overniting but connecting same day to the Southbound Starlate.

When I overnite in Portland , I always use the Mallory Hotel. Radio Cab offers FREE transportation (including gratuity) to/from the Amtrak station. The hotel is "older" but the service has always been tremendous.

Be sure to offer us a trip report on your return.

Enjoy your trip! I too look forward to hearing your trip report when you get back. I'm particularly interested in how the Boston-Springfield-Albany 'Lake Shore' connector is.

Ms. Dee--

While I can't promise for certain, be sure to look out to the North (Engineer's side) of #3 when passing BNSF MP 18 on Apr 26. You may just see yours truly and Golden Retriever, Casey.
