has annnounced he is running for president. he has always been a big rail supporter and also served on amtraks board. i would never vote for anyone just for that reason but as a wisconsin resident i also know he is very good in all areas of govt. please check him out for yourself.

The Copper Country Limited [Milwaukee Road-Soo Line] and the Peninsula 400 [CNW} still my favorites

Let us also remember what unofficial holliday is observed today.

In view of the above, here is a link to a recognized newssource establishing that Gov. Thompson has thrown his "hat in the ring".

I haven't been a fan of the GOP for a long time, but that's not to say there aren't any good Republicans. I don't know much about Thompson other than his position on Amtrak. I'm sure Thompson would be a great leader for our common cause. One of Bush's biggest blunders was appointing him to head HHS instead of DOT (which Thompson would have preferred).

As an aside, judging from the NYT article, he seems to have placed himself in the reasonable middle ground on Iraq, which means he hasn't got a chance.

All I know about him is that he worked wonders with Wisconsin healthcare and had his name on 182 up until last August. Now there are no named engines until I find my namesake alone for half an hour.
