Apart from Oakland Jack London Square are there any further examples in the US where road and rail passenger traffic still share a joint thoroughfare?

Yes -- Ashland, VA comes to mind, and I believe there are a few other spots also. Plus, the former(?) route of the Sunset Ltd into Los Angles ran on the median of the I-10 Freeway.

Tombigbee River bridge on the Meridian and Bigbee Railroad which is also used by Alabama State Highway 114, which is one lane across the bridge. The bridge is about 30 miles east of Meridian, Mississippi. This is a secondary state highway. The M&B is primarily and pulpwood and lumber hauler. It is also the route used by the train carrying the solid fuel booster rocket segments for the Space Shuttle.

Downtown New Albany, IN and Bedford, IN on the former Monon Railroad. Sees mostly local freight now since CSX truncated the route north of Bedford to Bloomington. I believe there may still be some through CP freight coming in at Bedford to Louisville, KY off the former Milwaukee Road as well.

Of course until 1979 Amtrak's 'Floridian' used the old Monon from Chicago to Louisville. I spent the night in the dome car and can remember waking up as we rolled down the street in Bedford at about 4:30am.....I was eye-level with the traffic lights!

The much busier CSX mainline from Cincinnati to Louisville also has a section of street running through LaGrange, KY, a small town northeast of Louisville.

If you're coming for a visit to ride trains and witness street running, you cannot beat Ashland, VA. The Henry Clay Inn is a small bed and breakfast kind of place which is right across a very narrow street from the railroad station. Only Amtrak's regional trains between Newport News, Richmond, and points northeast stop in Ashland however.

Ashland VA seems to be the ideal spot. Unfortunately this visit I shall be resticted to Oakland. I booked to Oakland rather than Emeryville so that we could at least experience that.

Not sure that Ashland actually qualifies. The tracks are more on the order of median running rather than sharing the pavement with automobiles, or am I remembering incorrectly?

LaGrange KY truly is shared, but that may change by addition of a curb.
