My 1956 Great Northern timetable has an elevation diagram of the entire route above their GN system map. It brags "Only 55 miles of the line above 4000 feet".
There is very little over 2500 ft. The Cascade Tunnel (Seattle section) is about 2883 but a very brief steep climb. Havre is 2485 and Whitefish is 3040 with a very gradual climb to Marias Pass in between. Lowest point is Seattle at 15. Spokane to Portland is gradual. Not much up and down on the whole route.
Compared to the Moffat tunnel climb and Donner on the CZ, and Raton and Cajon on the SWC, this is very tame.
