This article sites is about how the State of Connecticut will not complete the purchase of the new M-8 cars for the Metro-North system. There have been a number of press conferences announcing that these cars are on the way but in the end nothing. Meanwhile the politicians annually spend money on consultants to look at the feasibility of High Speed Rail in the state. could we just build a model train set in every state capital so they can play with their toys and stop wasting taxpayers money.

One of the most common decision avoidance techniques in any government is to claim that there is insufficient data to make a decision and that another study is required. When finally cornered into a decision, these various studies can be pulled out to deflect the blame, regardless of the outcome. After all, given the "proper" data manipulation a study can be made to substantuate any preselected outcome. Thus, studies can be found to match up with the results, whatever they are and to provide either support or opposition to the views of anybody and everybody either involved or simply standing around in the vicinity.

First Mr. Tanner, lest we forget that 348 M-8 cars are firm; we are addressing an additional 38 cars. If incoming Democrat Governor Malloy (no Tea Party in his resume) is able to reverse this decision, the production line will still be rolling and it would present no problem to produce the additional cars.

But for the moment, it appears that the M-8's are sort of like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Finally, in view of that Jodi is married to a retired Airline Flight Officer, it seems like passenger rail 'did OK" during her two terms. However some in the Health & Welfare community, such as my Brother in Law, who is on the Board at a Not-for-Profit nursing home in Greenwich ( yes in Greenwich; believe that?), think otherwise about "doing OK".
