Are you proud of me for referring to the train as 98(10)???
I took the time to introduce myself to my local Amtrak station agents in Savannah before boarding yesterday evening. (Thanks to Chico for that suggestion.) They were quite friendly and had lots of questions about what I"m doing.
Other than the roomette being a bit small for two people, we had a wonderful trip.. Our room attendant, Billy is a second generation Amtrak room attendant and had lots of kind advice for me as I make decisions on where to travel next. He has worked on the Zephyr and the Empire Builder previously, so he thinks my August trip will be amazing.
Mary in the dining room was wonderful, too... even though they were short of help and the dining car was filled to capacity at dinner and this morning at breakfast. Food was good.
I had a nice conversation with the conductor, Nigel Thirrens, and the Flag Man, Marvin Council, who boarded in WAS early this morning. They were very appreciative of the nice things I had to say about the trip and were encouraging to me, as well. So far, things could not be better!
The Herald Square Hotel is perfect. The right price and only two blocks from NYP. I highly recommend.

I'm thrilled that the first trip has been a good one for you so far. Just sent you a PM with details about the Guest Rewards program per your request.

I'm so greatful to know, Drs. Hale, that things went OK. Remember Ny-Albany you want to sit on the (forward riding) left, the "Fireman's side", but at Albant, if possible, you want to move to the Right (Engineer's side) to view the Lake Champlain scenery.

Got it! Got the instructions on how to sit and when... and, got the PM concerning AGR! I didn't mean to take up so much of your time, David! What time should we be a Penn Station to catch the 8:15 train? Will we get early access to seating if we arrive early or if we use red cap service?
