I think a good overview of Amtrak history and many of the problems Amtrak has encountered since its inception:

I'll gladly acknowledge that this material is factual and well produced, and apparently without any assistance from Amtrak's "Minister of Information".

Here's a video of (get this) #3(13&14). This resulted from a BNSF derailment occurring immediately West of Albuquerque. #3(13) was delayed some 24hrs and #3(14) "nominally".

Therefore what resulted was a sixteen car train comprised of twelve Superliners, two Baggage, and two PV's.

One of the PV's, the named NP Dome, Stampede Pass, is a PV owner's fantasy. "--Pass" was a series of 6RM-5BR-2C Great Northern Sleepers. Hardly a surprise, but "Stampede Pass" was not one of such, as Stampede Pass was the NP's Cascade X-ing.

Further, ike the SP, NP did not have any named passenger equipment, save their Slumbercoach "Loch--" fleet. That was named for something "Scotch" to define "sleep on the cheap".

Incidentally, there are videos of #3(13 & 14) at YouTube and other sites. The Western railfan community obviously got the message, for away from the Auto Train, twelve Superliners on one train is a "rarity".

Away from the Auto Train, where do you see a train including twelve Superliners in its consist?
