From what I both learned and observed riding Berlin-Dresden last year. nothing much has been done to upgrade the former DR through Saxony since Hitler and The War. Grade X-ings abound and to get to Prague (never been there and would like to) the line must X the Ore Mountains (modest when compared to the Alps, but still there. Schicklgruber, "uh not too worried" about them).

But apparently DB - even with their "Amtrak like" financial woes, is moving forth with reconstruction East of Dresden. If I were to go over (don't expect to anymore: airfares are presently obscene and I'm now 85yo) during the October window I've done of late, and take the journey from Berlin to Prague, I'd be treated to a "Busteetoot in Europe"....yeah [Confused] .
