How this very common condition went undiagnosed for this long to develop into Stage 4 escapes me. Where would we be now had Joe "stayed in" - and had won?

I must agree with you on that point, Mr. Helfner.
It could have been a different story had Joe stepped down at about the time I originated the "Please Joe" topic, and the Democrats had open primaries such as did the Republicans.
But on that point, we shall never know.

Having now completed the book "Fight" by Jonathan Allen and Aime Parnes, covering the period June 27 (Debate) to Jan 20, I note how the authors state that both "Barry" (Obama) and Nancy (Pelosi) wanted the Democrats to have "mini-primaries" after July 21 when Joe dropped out.
I'm at a complete loss to know how such would have occurred. There already had been Democratic primaries, which of course with only one recognized candidate on the ballot named Joe, resembled an "Election" in which someone name Vladimir was on that ballot.
