Already been a week since the tragic murder of this man, director of many beloved movies and of course first known for portraying Mike Stivic on All In The Family, and his wife.
Reiner’s second son, Nick, is charged with the double murder. A news story today is reporting that Nick was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was reacting badly to new medications.

Sad when this stuff happens within families. Some solace in the fact that there doesn't seem to be any political nexus here (although who knows what might have been the subject of the alleged argument at the party the night before).

I saw no reason to read past the first paragraph of Stephens' article. That was repulsive. What did this have to do with the Reiners?

Mr. Harris, it's Opinion. I like to think The Times is careful to differentiate between such and news.
But I respect that you do not hold those views, and I too questioned the relevance of Mr. Stephens' column to Mr. and Ms. Reiner's deaths.
