On another rail forum there has been some discussion about train 3(25) leaving Chicago without the sleeping car passengers. I don't want to be the one to "start" rumors, so until and unless it's confirmed HERE I'll consider it just that, a rumor.

Can this rumor mean that the sleeping cars uncoupled in the station?

I heard this too, i heard it was an accident involving miscommunication between the train/station staff and the Metropolitan lounge employees so they forgot to board the sleeping car Passengers.

Fluke!

This is what I mean about miscommunication in the system. Did the train back into the station to pick up the forgotten passengers? Did they offer a complimentary "something" of choice for their error? Maybe the House and the Senate would have to give an "OK" on that expenditure before the crew offers it.

Might there be any reports about how the affected passengers were transported to their destinations?

<Might there be any reports about how the affected passengers were transported to their destinations?>

No such reports. On the trainorders thread someone pointed out that minimally intelligent people could have discovered the error in time to send them to a catch up point on a Metra train.

Sec. Mineta missed a perfect opportunity for a press conference.

Maybe they could all go over to Rita's house and hop on a plane and fly to Savely and meet the Silver Streak....I mean Southwest Chief at 2.

Sorry I just picked up that movie on DVD.

Where's Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder when we need them? I just saw that movie on the big screen over in Galesburg at the Orpheum, during Railroad Days celebration.

How long did it take for the sleeping car attendants to realize there were no passengers in their car?

My thoughts exactly North American Railroader!

They have a Master List of all the Sleeper occupants on a trip, didn't it seem odd to them that no-one was onboard?

Can anyone confirm that this really happened? I have my doubts about this. While anything is possible with humans involved, something doesn't sit right about this story.

SOOOOOOOO -- was the entire sleeping car left at the station or never coupled to the rest of the train? Or did the entire consist depart, but with no passengers in the sleepers?

The story was that passengers sitting in the first class lounge in Chicago were not told to board as they should have been, and the train left without them.

Persons who are said to be reliable on the trainorders.com forum confirmed the story. I would also like to know if it is true, and what happened to them.
