Hello everyone!
Here is good news for Santa Fe #3751 fans. Grab your camera if you live near by SBR depot. Santa Fe 3751 and a short train will be making an unassisted (NO DIESEL) trip out to San Bernardino for the (Re)Dedication of the San Bernardino Santa Fe Train Station on Sunday, June 13th, 2004. The locomotive will go out on Saturday morning from Los Angeles Union Station at 8:20am, and arrive around 10:00am. It will be on display all day Saturday and Sunday, departing for Redondo Junction Sunday at 3:15pm and arriving at Los Angeles Union Station at 5:00pm. The re-dedication event is scheduled for 11:30 to 2:00 PM Sunday at the San Bernardino Depot.
The train will be going to San Bernardino via Metrolink down the San Bernardino Freeway, through El Monte, Baldwin Park, Covina, Pomona and finally to San Bernardino.

I saw it going through El Monte and it was beautiful except for some guy wearing a blue 88 shirt and friend who ran out across the two Metrolink tracks onto the UP mainline to get a picture. The friend then ran right in front of the 3751.

Let all practice safe railfanning and stay off of the tracks.

Chris

Watched it leave San Bernardino this afternoon. For some reason it stopped at the foot of the flyover bridge for a couple minutes before proceeding.

It was right on time at Claremont, CA on Saturday morning. I photographed it with the restored Claremont station in the background using a wide angle lens and a shutter speed of 1/2000. I also saw it parked at the S.B. station re-dedication then again photographed it westbound at the Claremont station -- a little late due to the stop just after departure but not a problem. It was great to see it. I haven't developed the film yet.
